Program D: Take A Closer Look at Arrays and Objects!

Dear parents and students, welcome to our class newsletter. We hope this update finds you all healthy, happy and ready to learn. We would like to take a moment to reflect on the progress we’ve made in class so far, and also share some interesting topics that shall interest you. We will be sharing our Class Newsletter Blog with you after every 8 lessons of your program.

From updates on our latest projects and lessons to showing some precious moments of the class, we aim to keep you informed and engaged in this meaningful education progress. In this edition of the class newsletter, we will be sharing some updates and pictures from the lessons, revealing our Star Coder, introducing a special awareness day in June and the latest happenings in Telebort. Class Updates 

In the course of Program D, we have covered a wide range of essential coding concepts over the span of 16 lessons. One such concept is arrays. Arrays are special variables capable of storing multiple values simultaneously. They serve as containers for various data types, with each stored value referred to as an element. Our students have also become familiar with the push and pop methods, which enable them to modify array elements easily.

Furthermore, our students have delved into the concept of objects. In coding, objects serve as containers for name-value pairs, known as properties or methods. JavaScript objects are variables that encompass multiple data values. Each property holds a value, which can be of any data type, such as strings, numbers, booleans, or even functions (methods).

Another fascinating concept that our students have explored is the HTML DOM. DOM, short for Document Object Model, empowers JavaScript to manipulate all elements within an HTML document. It serves as a programming interface for HTML, enabling the modification of properties, attributes, methods, and events, including the manipulation of CSS and classes. Our students have learned the fundamentals of DOM methods and how to apply them effectively.

Apart from these concepts, our students have also been exposed to numerous other intriguing topics. To apply their knowledge and skills gained from Chapter 1 to 9, the students took on a challenge in their Mini Project 2. This project served as a test of their abilities and provided them with a practical opportunity to demonstrate their understanding.

Star Coder 

In this section, we'll be shining the spotlight on one outstanding student in our coding class - The Star Coder. Every eight lessons, we’ll choose a student who has demonstrated a strong understanding of the material, shown a positive attitude, or contributed to the overall success of the class.

We are thrilled to announce our Star Coder of Program D, Sat 2pm - Nicholas Koay Yee Shen! Not only does Nicholas possess a keen intellect, but his project completion is nothing short of extraordinary. His projects are consistently delivered on time, showcasing meticulous attention to detail and an unwavering pursuit of perfection. Nicholas's quick grasp of JavaScript concepts allows him to execute his work swiftly and flawlessly. It is evident that he possesses a rare combination of talent, dedication, and an innate understanding of the subject matter. 

Nicholas's responsiveness and active participation in class is also truly commendable. He actively contributes to discussions, offering valuable insights and engaging with his peers. His enthusiasm and willingness to be an active participant creates an inspiring and collaborative atmosphere that elevates the entire class. Keep up the exceptional work Nicholas, and may your passion for coding continue to inspire others. 

Our goal with this section is to celebrate the effort of our students while motivating everyone to showcase incredible talents within our coding community. Congratulations to our first Star Coder, and we look forward to seeing more of you to strive for excellence!

World Ocean Day
