"The expert in anything was once a beginner." - Helen Hayes
Dear parents and students, welcome to our class newsletter. We hope this update finds you all healthy, happy and ready to learn. We would like to take a moment to reflect on the progress we’ve made in class so far, and also share some interesting topics that shall interest you. We will be sharing our Class Newsletter Blog with you after every 8 lessons of your program.
From updates on our latest projects and lessons to showing some precious moments of the class, we aim to keep you informed and engaged in this meaningful education progress. In this edition of the class newsletter, we will be sharing some updates and pictures from the lessons, revealing our Star Coder, introducing a special awareness day in May and the latest happenings in Telebort. Happy Reading!
Throughout these 8 lessons, our students have learnt many different concepts of basic programming, including computational thinking, events, sequences and loops. One of the latest concepts that they’ve learnt is loop. Loop is the process of repeating steps or instructions, over and over again until a certain condition is met. Loop is important, as loop allows algorithms to be simplified by stating that certain steps will repeat until told otherwise, and this makes designing algorithms quicker and simpler because they don’t need to include lots of unnecessary steps.
Our students also immersed themselves in a project called: Underwater Adventure. They designed and programmed their own projects, by implementing sprites, backgrounds and sounds to it.
We’re glad to see our students being engaged in learning new concepts. We’re proud to say that this class, Program A, Sun 2pm, has been one of the most active classes we have. Great job in grasping these concepts while being able to implement it onto our designated projects! We're excited to see you all continuing to grow and excel in your coding abilities!
In this section, we'll be shining the spotlight on one outstanding student in our coding class - The Star Coder. Every eight lessons, we’ll choose a student who has demonstrated a strong understanding of the material, shown a positive attitude, or contributed to the overall success of the class.
We are thrilled to announce our Star Coder of Program A, Sunday 2pm - Thiang Bi Kai! Bi Kai has shown exceptional dedication and commitment to learning programming languages and improving his coding skills. He is always eager to participate in class discussions and consistently submits the projects on-time. He also consistently demonstrates a deep understanding of coding principles and applies them effectively to solve problems. We’re very proud of you, Bi Kai, and may your passion for coding continue to inspire others!
Our goal with this section is to celebrate the effort of our students while motivating everyone to showcase incredible talents within our coding community. Congratulations to our first Star Coder, and we look forward to seeing more of you to strive for excellence!
Dive into the significance of World Ocean Day on June 8th! Join people worldwide in celebrating our vast blue planet and raising awareness about ocean preservation. In this newsletter, explore the importance of World Oceans Day and learn how we can make a positive impact.
Our shared ocean connects us all, housing diverse marine life and playing a crucial role in maintaining our planet's health. It produces oxygen, absorbs carbon dioxide, regulates climate, and provides livelihoods and economic opportunities. However, oceans face challenges like pollution, overfishing, habitat destruction, and climate change. It's our responsibility to act and preserve the oceans for future generations.
Here's how we can contribute to ocean conservation:
Remember, our coding and technology journey is intertwined with the health of our oceans. With our skills and knowledge, we can create innovative solutions and sustainably manage marine environments. Let's celebrate and embrace our role as custodians of this irreplaceable resource. Together, we can make a positive impact and ensure the oceans inspire and amaze us for generations to come. Keep coding and make waves!
